Saturday 23 May - Sunday 28thJune  Monty Reed: local teacher 1934-56  An exhibition, mounted by Bernie Gudge, about the well respected and much valued teacher, Monty Reed, who served locally during the period 1934 to1956, a service only broken by war duties.  Monty Reed was a keen photographer and some of his photographs showing sports days and events, school and local shows, dinghy sailing and cycling trips to Kingley Vale feature in the exhibition. Mr Reed served in the Royal Navy during WW II, spending some of the time on HMS Bullfrog. Saturday 28th November - Sunday 6th December NATIONAL TREE WEEK Westbourne Community Orchard Project is getting very close to planting the first trees, and participation from children and parents around Emsworth & Westboume is eagerly anticipated on Saturday 28th November at 10am at the Redlands Lane Allotments car park to get the first trees planted. Tuesday 15th December “The Launch Before Christmas ” Writing Competition Major Tim Peake blasts off on 15 December for a 6 month stay on the International Space Station. What do you think this will be like? Can you write a story or poem (no more than 500 words) entitled “The Launch Before Christmas”. All entries need to be handed in to Emsworth Library by Saturday 23 January 2016. They can be handwritten or typed and need to include your name, age, address and telephone number. Entries will be judged on content and original ideas rather than spelling and grammar. Entrants must be 12 or under. We will pick two winners who will each receive a selection of special space themed items.
