The metal sculptures that appeared in emsworth were installed on Wednesday
3rd May as a part of the emsworth Memorial Trail together with a much larger
piece in what will soon be a Memorial Garden adjacent to the Horndean Road
in the Recreation Ground.
A
straw poll of residents but by no means a representative sample, showed that
most thought that the concept was a good idea.
The most common comment was "What are
they"! two elderly
visitors from Bognor thought that it would be a good idea if the
Way-markers were inscribed with a suitable phrase such as "Least we Forget"
so that their purpose would be immediately apparent.
It is understood that shortly an
explanatory leaflet will be available and that The Memorial Garden and its
associated trail will be officially opened by The Lord Lieutenant of
Hampshire in July.
