Organised by Francis Jannaway and attended by nine other Emsworth Residents and Jamie Gargett from HBC Planning department Francis first outlined her understanding of the Tree Warden scheme. Jamie gave an account of TPOs in response to a question and each of the attendees explained their interest and how they might contribute.

Various potential activities were discussed which included:

• involvement of the local schools

• a tree walk

• practical activities including tree identification and planting

• training for volunteers

• the reporting of damaged, vandalised or diseased trees to the Borough's Tree Officer

It was noted that the regional development officer, JohnStokes was unable to attend this meeting as he was in Lancaster but that he would be asked to speak at the next meeting.

Jamie offered to organise a couple of short courses to cover trees and planning.

John Green volunteered to take on the task of coordinator.
