14th January      ATONEMENT Emsworth Community Association Film Club -  films are shown at 3.30pm and 7.30pm. Tickets should be bought in advance from Newsmag  in the High Street at £4.50 but will cost £5.00 each at the door in future. Tea/Coffee and biscuits will be included as usual.

 09 February  Stallholders wanted - The Mothers' Union are holding a Table Top Sale on Saturday 9 February from 10am to 12 noon at the St. James’ Church Parish Hall, Emsworth and will be advertising for Table holders @ £5 per table. What they raise is for their own use. The Mothers' Union hope to raise funds by renting Tables, sale of coffee, etc., organising a Raffle and charging a 50p entrance fee for the public.

This very popular twice-yearly Exhibition of work by local artists will again take place in the Community Centre at the rear of the Fire Station, North Street, Emsworth.

10 April Local Development Framework Public Meeting 7.30 - 9.30pm Emsworth Community Association, North Street These are the new Planning Documents that will set Havant Borough's policies for Housing. Economic Growth and the Environment until 2026.

19th April Emsworth 40s Flashback in the town centre. Organised by The Friends of Emsworth Memorial Garden, there will be military vehicles and a display from the period, a Soup Kitchen sponsored by the Co-Op and manned by the Army, an exhibition of pictures and memorabilia by Emsworth Museum, Angel Radio setting the musical scene, bands and the presence of the Mayor of Havant. This will be a day of memories for many and interest and enjoyment for all. Watch out for posters nearer the time.

20 April Horndean Book Fair  Merchistoun Hall , Horndean Thousands of quality second-hand books: from pocket money paperbacks to the scarce and collectable.  Alongside general fiction and non-fiction books (many in gift condition), will be special interest titles. Subjects include: maritime history, military history, local history, transport and motoring, , children’s books, art and architecture, natural history and exploration,  first editions, aviation, books for and about women, sport, topography, music, social history and local interest. Also antiquarian maps, prints and some ephemera. Sellers attending from Hampshire, Wiltshire, Dorset and Sussex.

24 April Emsworth Community Board AGM at 7.30 p.m. at Emsworth Community Association Centre. Emsworth Community Board (ECB) is looking for people who would like a say in the future of Emsworth, whether it be in development plans, environmental matters or the provision of council facilities and services. Six new Community Board members will be elected at the Annual General Meeting.

03 - 25 May  Emsworth Museum "Many Hands make Light (Patch) Work" by the Bourne Quilters  

 

18 May BHF Bourne Sponsored Bike Ride This year the Havant Branch of the British Heart Foundation are holding the Bourne Sponsored Bike Ride on the 18th May. The ride is suitable for cyclists of all ages; of special interest will be a chance to see some unusual bicycles, including a “Penny Farthing,” taking part courtesy of The Solent Veteran Bicycle & Tricycle Club.
Riders can choose to do 1, 2, or 3 laps of a 5 mile circular route that takes you through the beautiful Sussex Countryside starting from the Bourne Community Leisure Centre, Southbourne.
In 2007 nearly £2000 was raised on this bike ride – this time we’re hoping you’ll go the extra mile and raise even more to help fund life-saving BHF research.
Awards will be given for the individual rider and team/family who collect the greatest amount of sponsor money and there will be a draw for a Mountain Bike supplied by Emsworth Car and Cycle Ltd.

25th May OPEN GARDEN AND PLANT SALE 2pm-5pm The Southbourne Support Group for St. Wilfrid’s Hospice will be holding their fourth annual Open Garden and Plant Sale at The Old House, Prinsted Lane, one of the winners of the Chichester District Council’s Annual Gardens Competition 2007, on Sunday 25th May from 2pm-5pm, admission £3, children under 12 free. There will also be refreshments, a cake stall and bric-a-brac stall, and a raffle. Please come and support your local Hospice. 25 May  Emsworth Bowling Club Open Day  From 1.30 to 4.00 p.m. on Sunday 25th May 2008, Emsworth  Bowling Club is holding an Open Day to allow anyone to experience this most engaging of sports. The Clubhouse can be found by the skatepark in the recreation ground off Horndean Road, Emsworth.
No previous experience is needed as coaching will be offered. All equipment is provided and no special clothing is required. However, we do ask that you wear flat-soled shoes to avoid damage to the green. 31 May Southdown Society - A Sale and Exhibition of local artists' work in various mediums and subjects will take place at Emsworth Community Centre.  10.00 a.m - 7.00 p.m

Weekends throughout June Emsworth Trees exhibition held at Emsworth Museum in June. There will be lots of beautiful photosdrawings and watercolours of the huge variety of lovely trees we have in and around Emsworth.  Emsworth Trees will be held in Emsworth Museum (next to the Fire Station on  North Street), opening on Saturday 31 May until Sunday 29 June (Saturdays 10.30am to 4.30pm, Sundays 2.30pm to 4.30pm).

19 June Emsworth Museum - Treasure Hunt The 2008 Treasure Hunt will be held on 19 June starting from the museum at 7.00p.m. Entry Fee £1.00 per person payable as you start out on the Treasure Hunt. Tea / coffee and biscuits will be available when you arrive back at the museum to check your answers.

13 July Brook Meadow Open Day The event will include displays of photographs of the varied wildlife of Brook Meadow and conservation work carried out by the group, with Guided Walks, Nature Hunt and Nature Trail, and much more. Look out for posters with details.
