Centre We rely on a surprisingly narrow amount of genetic diversity
(both in terms of the range of crops, and the varieties of each) for our
food. I will discuss how our understanding of evolutionary processes
more generally can lead to conclusions (or at least hypotheses!) about

‘underutilised’ or ‘forgotten’ crops.

Kill” Emsworth Community Centre 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm An
Emsworth Maritime and Historical Trust Talk Presented by Vivien
Morgan An exploration of women in the 17th to 20th centuries who went to
war dressed as men. There were hundreds of known women cross-dressers in
Britain, Europe and the Americas, yet they have been erased from both
social and military history. Vivien tells some of their fascinating
stories. . Tickets: You must book a ticket in advance to be

Remembrance Parade and Service. The Parade and
service is on Sunday 10 November 2024. Parade is led by the Horndean
band. followed by Girls Brigade, Girls guides. Scouts.and the Army from
Thorney Island. The parade will set off from the bottom off Queen Street
at 2.15 pm and proceed up through the town to St James Church for the
service of Remembrance at 2.45 pm. The Deputy Mayor of Havant will be in
attendance. After the service, the parade will form up outside of the
Parish Hall and return via St James road, North Street, and into Palmers
Road by Tesco's and then the Parade %/A be dismissed. For more

Square and will see community carol singing and music, the arrival of

United Reformed Church. The programme includes glorious music from the
17th century by Byrd and Palestrina and carols from closer to our times
by Holst, Arvo Pärt, Kodály and local composer Ian Schofield. With mince
pies, mulled wine and audience participation in some well-known carols,
this will be a wonderful way to progress the festive season.
