Havant Big Green Week 2025
Havant Borough’s Big Green Week is coming up soon – a week of activities to showcase the work being done around our area to tackle climate change and protect nature. The idea is to make people aware of how they can make a difference and to show the politicians that people care. The Havant week is one of hundreds of Green Weeks taking place around the country and you can see all the events on the national website: https://www.greatbiggreenweek.com/
Around Havant Borough, we’re
planning a Nature & Biodiversity Roadshow fair at St Alban’s
school, woodland and countryside walks, cycle rides, litter
picks, craft and recycling sessions, meadow sweeps and bug
hunts, open gardens, art displays and activities for
children. There will also be films and sessions writing
Letters to Tomorrow. So, there are lots of ways to get
involved and to make a difference to what’s happening to our
planet, our trees, plants and wildlife.
Sue James. one of the organisers,
says: “Lots of groups around the Borough who are already
working hard to protect our environment and we want to
celebrate that and to encourage others to do something,
however small. Organising a zero-waste coffee morning or
children’s activities, getting friends together for a
clothes swap, showing a short film as part of a service are
all easy things to do. We’d also like children to take part
in our art competition and lots of people to write Letters
to Tomorrow. You can find information about both on our
website”.
The Big Green Week website has
links to lots of great resources and we’ve done pages
listing ideas for groups on the Havant Climate Alliance
website. They include our art competition for young people
and letter-writing sessions. Have a look at this page for
more information. https://havantclimatealliance.com/havant-borough-big-green-week/
